Domestic handset manufacturers keep on introducing new phones to their lineup. The latest from Intex is the Avatar, a GSM-GSM dual SIM device. The 3D interface caught our attention and we thoughtthe new phone was worth a review. Inside the box is the white touch device accompanied by regular accessories and a cheap red and blue plastic 3D glass. This was disappointing, as over a year ago both Zen Mobile and Spice Mobile had introduced 3D phones with autostereoscopic displays that eliminated the need of using 3D glasses. As per the company claims, the Avatar offers a 3D user interface.
But we could not feel any 3D effect, even with the glass on. As the phone captured images and videos, the same could be viewed in 3D as well. However, wearing the glasses is next to impossible as everything seems to be dipped in a red hue and this strains the eyes a lot. The Avatar has a 2.8-inch touch display, but it wasn't responsive as most of the time we were tapping our fingers against the display hoping for some action. The only saving grace about this phone is its sound output along with the set of preloaded games including Crazy Birds, Fruit Ninjia, Pentachess, Call of Atlantis, etc.
BAG IT OR JUNK IT? All gimmick, no show. Not worth considering.
