Google India has emerged as the 'Best Company to Work For' in a Business Today survey, followed by Accenture India and TCS. The survey was conducted by Business Today with the help of knowledge partner PeopleStrong and survey partner Naukri.com.
The awards were given by Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, at a glittering function in Mumbai. This is the 14th edition of the 'Best Companies to Work For' survey, which has 25 winners from various industry sectors such as HDFC Bank, Flipkart, Tata Steel, Vodafone and Abbott India.
In his keynote address, Fadnavis said that Indian corporates have an opportunity and responsibility in the changing investment climate in the country to create a developed nation. "We have the demographic advantage till 2035 because of young talent. The advantage will shift to Africa by 2050. This is an opportunity for corporates to leapfrog with best practices," he said.
Raj Chengappa, Group Editorial Director (Publishing), India Today Group, noted that in this diverse environment, what is most important is to nurture talent by providing good working conditions, gender neutral environment and a culture of meritocracy. "I must say the 14th edition of this annual survey has some of the best employer brands across sectors, and the winners have one thing in common: they care for their employees," he said.
"As we have become increasingly integrated with the global economy, the workplace practices have also started reflecting the new thinking that is taking place among HR managers and operation directors on how to improve productivity, while simultaneously keeping the best employees happy and reducing attrition," said Prosenjit Datta, Editor, Business Today.
The BT survey was based on a web-based questionnaire that was open to all employees across companies and industries. Naukri administered the survey, while PeopleStrong provided the methodology and the survey analysis. This year's survey was carried out between September 28, 2015, and December 18, 2015. Naukri.com spliced its active database into different slices based on age, experience, salary levels, etc. Targeted questionnaires were sent to four million respondents registered with Naukri. In all, 13,000 people came to the survey page. This year, over 5,100 respondents were part of the survey that asked questions on eight specific parameters. Fadnavis and Chengappa also unveiled BTs special issue on "Best Companies to Work For".
The event was preceded by a panel discussion titled 'Creating the Best Workplace - What Works, What Doesn't', among Philip Mathew, Chief People Officer, HDFC Bank; Geethaa Ghaneckar, Chief HR Officer, Lifestyle Business, Raymond Limited; Annie Kurian, Vice President & Global HR Leader, Genpact, and was moderated by Devashish Sharma, Founding Member & Chief People Officer, PeopleStrong.
