Anna Hazare and his anti-corruption movement

There we were, at Delhi's famous Ramlila Maidan, caught up in the fervour of the crowds thronging to hear and see Anna Hazare. Whole families were turning up in support, so were hawkers doing brisk business selling Anna caps, tricolour shawls and national flags.

Volunteers distributed food and drinking water. The scene was very orderly. There was no political colour at the meet but the mood was strongly against politicians.

Most felt Hazare was the right person to head the movement as his own integrity was unquestionable.

He might not be perfect, but a first step had to be taken, they said. Some voices we heard:
