'Be an investor, not a trader'

The Vice-President—Equities of Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund shares with us his investment mantra.

Krishna Sanghavi
Krishna Sanghavi

Past positions: With Kotak AMC since January 2007. Has worked in various capacities with the Kotak group since 1997.

Investment mantra: Look at the right business and management.

Best call over the past few months: Have been strong on infrastructure, banking, financial services, capital goods and metals.

Worst call over the past few months: Our exposure to telecom hasn't paid that well.

Top picks right now: Tata Power, Axis Bank, State Bank of India and Larsen & Toubro.

Advice to small investors: Do not make impulsive entries and exits from the market.

Worst mistake small investors make: Firstly, investing without a clear investment idea. Investors are also swayed by market movements and do not spend enough time to make the most of it.
