WHO SHOULD INVEST IN IT?
BNP Paribas Midcap is a small fund with assets under management less than Rs 50 crore. After a tough start, it turned a corner in 2010. It performed particularly well in 2012, returning 52.21 per cent against the category average of 41.41 per cent. It primarily invests in the mid- and small-cap companies with opportunity to grow (these firms have a market cap below that of the 99th stock in the BSE 500 Index). The fund aims to offer profitable bets in each segment. This also means that there is a risk that some bets, especially smallcap stocks, will affect the fund's performance. The fund, therefore, is best for those willing to take on a little risk for higher returns.

MEET THE FUND MANAGER
