What are the most important factors one considers while
accepting a new job offer? It seems Indian job seekers considered job security and higher salaries as key for taking a job with a new company in 2010, according to a survey by Ma Foi Randstand, a global human resource (HR) development company.
Though job security tops the list of parameters considered before joining a new company, lucrative pay packages are also becoming an important deciding factor, shows the survey which took views from 10,000 respondents in the 18-65 years age group.
Global economic fears to hit hiring As many as 18% respondents said job security is the most important factor for considering a job offer, while for 14% higher salaries would be the key.
Among other factors, pleasant working atmosphere (12%), interesting work profile (10%) and work-life balance (9%) featured among the top five parameters considered before choosing a job.
In 2009, over a quarter (26%) of the respondents opted for jobs with better job security while 17% preferred financially healthy companies to work for. This could be the effect of 2008-09 financial crisis when distressed firms were aggressively cutting workforce.
The survey further shows that importance of financial stability and strong management increases with age.
