Total foreign exchange reserves with RBI (as on November 2, 2018) stood at Rs 28.66 lakh crore.

The Centre feels the RBI is more than adequately capitalised. But with liabilities up 10% since last year, it needs to preserve reserves and deposits to shield the economy from future shocks.
