Mandhana, Eros shares extend gains up to 13% after HC acquits Salman Khan

The stocks extended gains after the Bombay High Court acquitted the actor of all the charges in the 13-year-old hit-and-run case.

Shares of Mandhana Industries and Eros International, the entities associated with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, extended gains in trade on Friday, after the Bombay High Court acquitted the actor of all the charges in the 13-year-old hit-and-run case.

The stock of Mandhana Industries ended 3.31 per cent higher after hitting an intraday high of Rs 307.30, up 13.18 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). It had gained 2.41 per cent in the previous session.

The stock of Eros International closed flat after rising as much as 4.75 per cent to Rs 249.00 on BSE. It had added 3.89 per cent in the previous session.

Mandhana Industries is linked with the actor's NGO Being Human. It has an exclusive licence agreement with Being Human - the Salman Khan Foundation for designing, marketing and distributing Being Human clothing products.

Eros International was the distributor to Salman Khan films - Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Hero - this year.

Seven months after superstar Salman Khan was sentenced to five years in jail by a sessions court in the 13-year-old hit-and-run case, the Bombay High Court today acquitted him of all the charges, holding that the prosecution had failed to prove that he was driving the vehicle after having consumed alcohol.

On May 6 this year, a sessions court had convicted Khan in the case in which one person was killed and four others were injured when his vehicle crushed them while they were asleep on a pavement outside a laundry.
