The country's oldest bourse, Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday officially adopted its new corporate identity as BSE Ltd.

As approved in its Annual General Meeting on June 29, Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd on Monday officially adopted its new corporate identity as BSE Ltd, an exchange release said.

Spanning two centuries, BSE has played a pioneering role crossing several milestones as it continually seeks to create value for stakeholders and the Indian financial eco-system, it said.

It has metamorphosed into a pan-India multi-product market infrastructure institution, with operations ranging from equity, derivatives and debt segments to depository and education businesses, the release said.

As per the equity market capitalisation of the companies listed on the BSE, the exchange ranks 4th largest in Asia and 8th largest in the world.

The 136-year-old BSE also has the largest number of listed companies (over 5,000) in the world.
