JLR drives Tata Motors' global sales up 26 per cent in March

Tata Motors has reported an increase of 26 per cent in its global sales in March, against 1,39,655 units in the same month last year. The company's luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) sales in the period under review zoomed 51 per cent at 36,471 units over March 2011.

Independently, Land Rover sales in the period rose by 53 per cent at 31,128 units while that of Jaguar grew at a healthy pace of 42 per cent at 5,343 units.

The auto major reported a rise of 12 per cent in the period under review in its global sales of commercial vehicle brands like Tata, Tata Daewoo and Tata Hispano Carrocera range which stood at 63,791 units.


"Cumulative sales (for Tata passenger vehicles and the distribution offtake in India of Fiat cars) in the fiscal are at 337,813 numbers, higher by 3 per cent over March 2011."

The cumulative sales of the company's luxury brand JLR for the financial year grew by 29 per cent at 314,433 units.

"Cumulative sales of Jaguar are 54,039 numbers, higher by 2 per cent, while cumulative sales of Land Rover are 260,394 numbers, higher by 37 per cent," the company said.

Shares of the Tata Motors were trading at Rs 301.40, up 4.25 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
