Maruti suspends production in Haryana due to fire at Subros facility

Country's leading car maker Maruti Suzuki India on Monday said it has temporarily suspended production of cars at its facilities in Manesar and Gurgaon due to an incident of fire at a facility of its supplier M/s Subros Ltd.

Maruti and Subros are assessing the damage to the equipment and considering starting supply of components from other facilities. On Sunday a major fire broke at the Manesar plant of Subros which took more than three hours to douse. There were no reports of casualty.

On an average MSI produces around 5,000 units a day from its two plants at Gurgaon and Manesar, which together have an annually capacity of rolling out 15 lakh units.

The Maruti Suzuki stock closed 1.65 per cent lower on the BSE.
