The income tax (I-T) department has discovered tax evasion of about Rs 10,000 crore over three years as per news reports. The evasion is reported to have been done by online retailers selling products via social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. The I-T department as per the reports has sent notices to 45 brands operating across the country and more are expected to follow suit but what are the taxation norms for online retailers of Facebook and Instagram.
