Noida’s cybercrime branch has apprehended a 22-year-old Haryana resident, Naresh Kumar, for allegedly defrauding a 68-year-old retired government official of ₹1.19 crore. The victim was targeted in a sophisticated digital scam in mid-October. Investigations revealed that ₹92 lakh was transferred to Naresh's bank account, suggesting his central role in the fraud. Naresh, an unemployed resident from Bhiwani, was under surveillance and “digitally arrested” from October 11 to October 14, during which the cybercrime team tracked his financial activities and movements. According to DCP Cyber Noida, Priti Yadav, such digital scams highlight the need for increased vigilance against online fraud, especially as cybercriminals devise new methods to deceive unsuspecting victims. The police are continuing to track any further connections to the fraud, aiming to prevent similar cases and ensure justice for victims targeted in such financial scams.
