Delhi CM Atishi has strongly criticized the central government for its lack of action on stubble burning, which is contributing to the severe air pollution crisis across North India. According to Atishi, states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh are seeing a significant rise in stubble-burning incidents, exacerbating the already poor air quality. While Punjab has made significant progress in reducing stubble burning, with incidents dropping by 80% in recent years, other states have seen alarming increases, with Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh reporting higher numbers. The situation has led to a medical emergency, with air quality levels across cities like Delhi, Bhopal, Lucknow, and Patna categorized as "Very Poor" and "Severe," as per the Central Pollution Control Board's data. Atishi's statement highlights the urgent need for the central government to take proactive measures to tackle the issue and protect public health.
