In an exclusive interview with India Today, Advocate Amit Vyas, the complainant against BookMyShow, shared his experience and raised serious allegations regarding the Coldplay concert ticket sale incident. Vyas explained that BookMyShow had the exclusive rights to sell tickets for the concert. However, he was logged out of the system immediately after the ticket sale went live, an experience he had never encountered before. He tried logging back in for nearly 15 minutes but was unsuccessful. To his surprise, tickets were already being sold on a secondary website, Viagogo, at significantly inflated prices. Vyas suspected foul play when he discovered that tickets were being resold for as much as ₹7-9 lakh within minutes, and many of his friends, regular concert-goers, faced similar issues. His suspicions deepened when a third show was added within an hour, something he found unusual for a popular band like Coldplay. Vyas recalled a similar experience during the 2023 World Cup final ticket sale, where BookMyShow was also the ticket partner. He expressed concern that such incidents could not happen without the involvement of primary ticket sellers and has filed a complaint with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW).
