FM Nirmala Sitharaman Addresses NCLT & NCLAT Staffing Issues, Urges Expedited Appointments

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman acknowledged the staffing challenges at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT). She emphasized ongoing efforts to address these issues through periodic interviews, advertisements for positions, and collaboration with the Supreme Court to appoint qualified members. Sitharaman noted the presence of an NCLAT in Tamil Nadu, which serves the southern states, and recognized the need for more appellate tribunals. She assured Members that appointments for both NCLT and NCLAT are being expedited with a greater sense of urgency to ensure efficient functioning of company law tribunals.
