
Taiwan-based Foxconn, a prominent Apple supplier, has set ambitious plans to bolster its presence in India. The world's largest contract manufacturer of electronics intends to double its workforce and investment in the country within the next year. This strategic move is part of Foxconn's broader efforts to diversify its manufacturing operations away from China. While specific details of the expansion remain undisclosed, Foxconn's representative in India, V Lee, made this announcement on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 73rd birthday, expressing the company's goal of doubling employment, foreign direct investment (FDI), and overall business size in India. Foxconn already operates a substantial iPhone manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, employing thousands. Additionally, Karnataka's recent announcement of Foxconn's $600 million investment further underscores the company's commitment to India's burgeoning technology and manufacturing sectors. Chairman Liu Young-way envisions substantial investment potential in India and believes that several billion dollars is just the beginning of their commitment to the country's growth and development.
