At the IFGE India Bio-energy and Tech Expo, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, emphasized the growing importance of biofuels in India’s energy landscape. Recalling a journalist's query about the reliability of electric vehicles, Gadkari noted the remarkable progress made with electric buses, cars, and scooters. He highlighted the success of biofuels, sharing his personal experience with a Toyota car running on 100% biofuel, generating 40-60% electricity, and costing just ₹25 per litre, compared to petrol. Gadkari stressed that economic viability is crucial for the success of biofuel projects, alongside proven technology, raw material availability, and marketability. He pointed out that biofuels are more cost-effective than fossil fuels and produce no pollution, making them advantageous for the common man. Gadkari expressed confidence that public support for biofuels will grow as these benefits become more widely recognized.
