The United States has tested its powerful Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) off the coast of California, showcasing one of the most formidable weapons in its nuclear arsenal. With a range of about 13,000 kilometers and speeds reaching 24,000 km/h, the missile can strike targets anywhere in the world in roughly 30 minutes. The Minuteman III can carry nuclear warheads far more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945. Equipped with three solid-fuel rocket motors and an advanced inertial guidance system, it is designed to remain operational around the clock and withstand nearby nuclear blasts, reinforcing the U.S. nuclear deterrence capability.
