The West Asia conflict has expanded into the Indian Ocean after the United States launched a major naval offensive against Iran. A U.S. submarine torpedoed and sank the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena near Sri Lanka, marking the first U.S. torpedo sinking of an enemy ship since World War II. The vessel, carrying around 180 crew members, had recently attended a naval event in Visakhapatnam. Dozens were killed while Sri Lankan teams rescued survivors. Iran condemned the strike, calling it an “atrocity at sea.” The U.S. has reportedly destroyed over twenty Iranian vessels, raising fears that the conflict could escalate into a wider global confrontation.
