Exclusive: Vikrant Shrotriya, Corporate Vice President & Managing Director, Novo Nordisk India, has warned that the ‘wonder drug’ Ozemic is not a ‘party drug’. In a special conversation with Kalli Purie, Vice Chairperson and Executive Editor-in-Chief at India Today Group, Shrotriya said the hugely popular drug, originally developed for diabetes management, but which has now gained popularity for its weight-loss benefits, “is not a magic pill”. Ozempic and other weight-loss drugs like Mounjaro and Wegovy are set to be launched in India soon. The drugs help regulate appetite by affecting the brain's hunger signals and slowing gastric emptying. “It is a rescue for those who cannot lose weight through diet and exercise alone,” Shrotriya explained.
