External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar expressed confidence on February 10 that India will secure a permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council. However, he emphasized that this achievement won't come easily, as numerous countries aim to obstruct India's path. During an interaction with the Indian community in Perth, Dr. Jaishankar highlighted India's changing global perception, indicating growing trust and respect for the nation's stance on various global issues. He noted that India often represents the collective position of many countries and enjoys trust and confidence globally. Dr. Jaishankar pointed out India's success in elections across different UN bodies, surpassing even some current Security Council members. He stressed the need for India to continue laying the groundwork for its ascent on the global stage, focusing on economic growth and internal development. While acknowledging the challenges ahead, Dr. Jaishankar expressed optimism about India's future trajectory, emphasizing the importance of sustained effort and commitment to securing its place in the world.
