In preparation for the inauguration of the Ram Janambhoomi Temple, the Ayodhya Airport is scheduled to commence operations in January 2024. Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Minister for Civil Aviation, shared images of the new airport in a recent tweet. The initial phase includes the launch of commercial flight operations, the development of a 2,245-meter runway, and the installation of a Doppler Very High-Frequency Omni-Range and Homing Gate System. According to officials from the Airports Authority of India, the airport will begin international commercial flight operations in its second phase in early February too. The airport spans 821 acres and has completed over 70% of the construction work for Terminal One, including the air traffic control tower, apron, taxiway, and isolation area. The airport is designed to handle 500 passengers per hour and can accommodate Airbus A320 aircraft at all times. Airlines like Indigo, SpiceJet, and others will establish infrastructure to manage passenger and flight operations. Ayodhya airport will connect cities such as Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and even destinations in Chennai.
