Report: Canadian PM Justin Trudeau Likely To Quit Amid Party Revolt

Embattled Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is likely to resign as the Liberal Party leader soon amid growing calls within the party to step aside. It is unclear whether Trudeau will resign immediately or stay on as Prime Minister until a new leader is selected. The development comes as polls show that Trudeau's Liberals will lose badly to the opposition Conservatives in the upcoming federal election slated to be held in October this year. It also comes less than a month after Chrystia Freeland quit as the country's Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister over Trudeau's policies. In further trouble for Trudeau, the Atlantic, Ontario and Quebec caucuses have signalled that most of the leaders will not back Trudeau. The three regions account for 131 of 153 seats that the Liberal Party holds in the House of Commons.
