Hit by the two Cs - China and Covid, Cloth merchants of Gujarat struggle to revive their businesses...even as netas make a beeline for the votes of the business and trading community. Known as the 'Manchester of the East, Ahmedabad has long been associated with textiles and fabrics in India. India today visited the oldest cloth market of the city to gauge the mood of the textile merchants. A market that did 1.5-2 lakh crore business annually, is now seeing a dip of 50,000 crores, say the merchants.
