The debate over alleged “vote chori” continues to intensify. After heated exchanges in Parliament over the issue of SIR, the Congress party took its protest to the streets, holding a large rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan. Several senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Mallikarjun Kharge, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, were present at the rally. Congress claimed it has collected around six crore signatures against what it calls electoral manipulation, which it plans to submit to the President of India. The rally began from the Congress headquarters at Indira Bhawan. During the protest, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi accused the RSS and the Election Commission of undermining democracy. The BJP hit back, calling the rally political drama and accusing Congress of poor governance. As the political confrontation deepens, the issue of electoral reforms remains at the centre of the ongoing war of words.
