Recent events like the Himachal Pradesh Floods and Sikkim's glacial food disaster, attributed to global warming, underscore the urgency of India's stance. The concept of the loss and damage fund was agreed upon during negotiations at COP 27 in Egypt in 2022, with a focus on supporting nations vulnerable to the consequences of climate change.
