SBI Research has challenged the notion of a K-shaped recovery in India's post-pandemic economy, revealing a decline in income inequality (Gini coefficient) and highlighting positive shifts, including 36.3% of taxpayers moving to higher income brackets. The study emphasizes MSME transformation, increased female labor force participation, and a forecasted rise in consumption at the bottom of the pyramid. SBI Group Chief Economic Advisor Soumya Kanti Ghosh dismisses K-shaped recovery theories as "flawed" and "prejudiced," presenting contrasting insights from diverse data sources like income tax returns and Zomato orders. Ghosh questions traditional indicators, suggesting a more nuanced economic reality. Watch his interview with Business Today TV Managing Editor Siddharth Zarabi.
