During a media interaction in Oslo, Sibi George, Secretary (West) in India’s MEA, responded to questions regarding differences between India and Norway, India’s Russia policy, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi not taking questions at joint press conferences abroad. George said differences between countries are “healthy” and natural in international relations, while stressing that India’s foreign policy is guided by two principles — the welfare and security of Indian citizens and the objective of global good. He also defended India’s democratic credentials, highlighting regular elections, constitutional values, and an independent judiciary, while reaffirming strong and healthy India-Norway ties.
