Barasat Assembly Election 2026

Polling for the BARASAT Assembly seat will take place in the second phase on April 29, 2026.

Vote counting and the declaration of results for the BARASAT Assembly seat, along with all constituencies of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, will be held on May 4, 2026.

In the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021, the BARASAT seat was won by AITC. The winning candidate, Chiranjeet Chakrabarti, secured 104431 votes. The runner-up was from BJP, whose candidate Sankar Chatterjee received 80648 votes.

In the previous election in BARASAT, Chiranjeet Chakrabarti secured victory as a candidate from AITC. They received a total of 104431 votes, accounting for a vote share of 46.3%.

In the 2021 election for the BARASAT seat, AITC candidate Chiranjeet Chakrabarti won with 104431 votes. They defeated BJP candidate Sankar Chatterjee by a margin of 23783 votes. Sankar Chatterjee received 80648 votes in total.

In the 2021 election for the BARASAT seat, the runner-up was BJP candidate Sankar Chatterjee. They were defeated by AITC candidate Chiranjeet Chakrabarti. Sankar Chatterjee secured a total of 80648 votes, losing by a margin of 23783 votes.

The West Bengal Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) has a total of 294 seats. Public representatives are elected directly.
