Eye-Q super specialty chain opens 3 hospitals in Maharashtra

Super specialty eye care chain EYe-Q has opened three hospitals in Maharashtra at Nasik, Jalgaon and Aurangabad, while two more centres will come up in Pune.

"Eye-Q will soon open its first international centre in Nigeria and is targeting to add 15-20 hospitals every year. Our target is to reach 100 hospitals," said Rajat Goel, co-founder and CEO, Eye-Q Super speciality Eye Hospitals.  

"The chain has doubled its revenues in the last five years and will cross the Rs 100-crore turnover this year. We screens over five lakh patients a year and does 25,000 surgeries," Rajat said.

He said that Eye-Q follows a hub-and-spoke low cost model. Each of the centres with two specialists operation theatres and support staff require an average Rs 1-1.5 crore investment.

A bigger district headquarter centre with lasik surgery facilities require Rs 3.5 crore to Rs 4 crore initial investment.

Private equity firms Song, Helion, Nexus and IFC together hold a majority stake in Eye-Q and has so far invested close to Rs 130 crore.

Started in 2007, the 40-plus hospital chain has most of its centres in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarkhand and Gujarat with focus on non-metro and smaller towns
