The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on a plea by Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal and Essar Energy's Ravikant Ruia challenging their summoning before
the 2G special court in the spectrum allocation scam of 2002.
The apex court bench, headed by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir, while issuing the notice, asked the CBI to file its response in four weeks and gave another three weeks to Mital and Ruia to file their rejoinder.
The court said the proceedings before the trial court in this matter would remain deferred till then.
The 2G special court headed by Additional Session Judge O.P. Saini had summoned
both Mittal and Ruia along with five others in connection with excess spectrum allocation scam during the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) regime in 2002.
