United Technologies, that owns Carrier, said it considers India to be a strategic market.

"With acquisitions like this one, we will enhance our position by building scale, reach, product offerings and customer service capabilities across the country," United Technologies India President Zubin Irani said.

Commenting on the deal, Sauter Chief Executive Bertram Schmitz said, "the domestic market has slowly shifted from being predominantly focused on building management solutions to a wider range, including integrated safety, security and fire protection systems."

Sauter provides complete solutions for building automation, system engineering, software integration, installation & commissioning, maintenance, servicing and technical facility management.
