Price shock
Two SUVs, one big price difference! Hyundai launched the Bayon in India on October 26 at a starting ex-showroom price of ₹9.99 lakh, while the Tata Sierra starts at ₹11.49 lakh. That's a ₹1.50 lakh gap before you even compare the features! But there's a twist. The Bayon's higher variants climb close to ₹18 lakh, putting them directly against several Sierra variants. So which SUV offers more for your money?

Engine battle
Want more power under the bonnet? Hyundai Bayon comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 115 PS and 143.8 Nm of torque, paired with manual and iVT automatic options. Tata Sierra fights back with three engine choices, including a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol producing 158 bhp and 255 Nm. Sierra also offers a diesel option, making the engine comparison much more interesting for buyers who regularly travel long distances.

Mileage mystery
Which SUV could save you more money at the fuel pump? The supplied figures put Hyundai Bayon's iVT petrol mileage at 18.6 km/l, while Tata Sierra's ARAI figures range from 15.3 km/l for the turbo-petrol automatic to an impressive 21.26 km/l for the diesel manual. But comparing petrol and diesel mileage alone doesn't reveal the full ownership cost. Fuel prices, driving conditions and the variant you choose could change the calculation.

Feature frenzy
Two giant screens or an entire triple-screen dashboard? Hyundai Bayon offers dual 12.3-inch displays, a generative AI voice assistant powered by Perplexity and SoundHound, more than 70 connected features and Level 2 Pro ADAS with 23 assistance features. Tata Sierra counters with an available triple-screen layout, a 12-speaker JBL sound system and a larger claimed 622-litre boot, against Bayon's 505 litres. But which features actually matter when you're spending upwards of ₹10 lakh?
