(Photo: Reuters)Consumers of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) will now be able to pay bills or check water usage through mobile app 'm-Sewa', developed by mobile wallet company MobiKwik.
The app will allow 'one-tap' online payments, instant self-bill generation, option to view previous bills and water consumption graph. "The app will end the need to stand in queues at cash collection centres and revenue offices for paying water bills," DJB CEO Kesav Chandra had said at a consultative pre-launch workshop on the mobile application.
"It is our proven credentials as a user-friendly mobile wallet based on a robust technology platform that made Delhi Jal Board choose us as a partner in its digital journey," MobiKwik Founder CEO Bipin Preet Singh said in a statement. "Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal will officially launch the Delhi Jal Board mobile application on Thursday after which this service will be operational," the statement said.
With the aim to promote mobile payments, MobiKwik will soon launch an initial cashback offer to encourage Delhi residents to pay their water bill using the DJB app. "MobiKwik is has 25 million users and 50,000 retailers connected to it," the statement said.
An existing app of the DJB, launched in 2014, enables people to register their complaints related to dirty water, leakage, sewer overflow, missing manhole covers.
