A20 Pro chip, bigger battery, smaller dynamic island: iPhone 18 Pro's biggest leaks

Apple's iPhone 18 Pro lineup is still a few months away, but leaks and rumours show no signs of slowing down. Apple has traditionally favoured September for its flagship launches, though the exact date shifts every year.

According to Gurman, September 8 is currently the "most likely date" for the debut of iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and the foldable iPhone, with September 9 emerging as the runner-up option.

Apple had picked September 9 for the debut of both the iPhone 17 and iPhone 16 series. The iPhone 15, however, launched on September 12, while the iPhone 14 was unveiled on September 7.

A recent IDC report hinted that Apple could implement as much as a $200 price hike for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max — coming shortly after Apple raised iPad and MacBook prices amid a memory chip crunch.

If this turns out to be true, the iPhone 18 Pro could be priced between $1,200–$1,300, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max could cost around $1,299–$1,399.

Apple is likely to keep the same 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch screen sizes as last year's Pro models. However, the Dynamic Island could shrink by up to 35 percent — a notable visual overhaul.

Apple could use LTPO+ display technology to improve power efficiency and battery life. The camera setup may stay nearly identical, with one key addition — a manual variable aperture lens for better low-light shots and natural bokeh.

Both flagships are expected to run on the next-gen A20 Pro chipset, built on TSMC's 2nm process — promising up to 15 percent faster performance and 30 percent better power efficiency.

Reports suggest TSMC's Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module tech could let RAM sit closer to the SoC, boosting Apple Intelligence performance. The iPhone 18 Pro Max may also pack Apple's biggest-ever battery at 5,100–5,200mAh.
