Sonakshi Sinha's new film Akira has failed to generate interest among viewers, with the film performing rather modestly in its opening weekend.
The film saw a rise in collections on Sunday, but it failed to capitalise strongly at the box office in a week which had no other major film releasing.
The movie has earned a total Rs 16.65 crores in its first three days of release, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh. The film mopped up Rs 5.15 crore net on the first day of its release.

The movie is a college-centric drama where the actress depicts the role of a strong woman who does not tolerate any wrong or injustice.
Akira has been met with drastically cold response from critics as compared to Murugadoss's previous blockbusters like Ghajini and Holiday.
India Today critic Tatsam Mukherjee wrote in his review: "Only if Murugadoss had a smarter story to compliment the performance. Sonakshi Sinha makes for a competent action star, but acting-wise, she needs to step out of these formula films and take up something more cerebral".
The film is co-produced by AR Murugadoss and Fox Star Studios.
