Government-owned telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will no longer give voice-only offers with broadband plans starting today. It will now offer only combo broadband plans, that give both data as well as calling benefits. BSNL broadband customers could earlier opt for voice-only benefits with their plans but it is no longer an option.
"It is decided by the competent authority not to provide exclusive voice connection on Bharat Fibre for new telephone connection and also for conversion from Copper Voice to Fibre voice. As FTTH is a service primarily for high-speed Broadband, hence Voice is provided as unlimited
free bundled with data," BSNL noted.
The existing broadband customers will continue to have their voice-only plans with efforts from the telco to convert them to combo users as there are no separate charges for voice calls, Kerala Telecom reported.
BSNL extended its promotional broadband plans starting at Rs 449 till July 2021. It has also introduced Air Fibre Plans with speeds ranging from 30Mbps to 70Mbps. The plans start at Rs 499 and offer 30 Mbps download speed to 3300GB of data.
The Rs 999 and Rs 1499 promotional broadband plans offer 200 Mbps speed and 300 Mbps speed for a FUP limit of 3300 GB and 4000 GB respectively. The plans give unlimited calls within the country. These are the only broadband plans giving a premium subscription to Disney_+ Hostar. After the FUP limit is reached, the plans are speed is reduced to 2Mbps and 4 Mbps respectively.
The regular broadband plans include the Rs 599 Fiber Basic Plus plan that gives 3300 GB data with 60 Mbps speed and unlimited domestic calls. After the data is exhausted, the speed is reduced to 2 Mbps. The Rs 1277 fiber broadband plan, also known as the Fibre Premium Plus plan gives up to 200 Mbps speed to 3300 GB of data. After the 3300 GB limit is exhausted, the speed is reduced to 15 Mbps. These plans come for 1 month, 6 months, 12 months and 24 months validity.
BSNL users who wish to subscribe to OTT channels can separately access Yupp TV for Rs 129 per month. The Yupp TV streaming subscription gives access to OTT services like VOOT Select, SonyLIV Special, Zee5 Premium All-access pack, YuppTV Live, FDFS (First Day First Show), and YuppTV Movies. Only BSNL broadband customers are eligible to access these plans. Since it is a cross-platform service, YupTV Scope can be accessed from a range of devices including smart TV, personal computer, mobile phone, tablet and streaming media players.
