Cube26 launches IOTA Lite smart bulb, enters Internet of Things space

Flipkart backed Cube26, an India-based technology innovation firm, has ventured into the Internet of Things space with a smartphone controlled bulb. The company has launched IOTA Lite, a smart bulb, priced at Rs 1899.

Powered by Texas Instrument microprocessor, the IOTA uses energy efficient Toshiba LEDs.

Offering 500 lumens brightness, IOTA Lite is a 7W bulb. It can be controlled through the IOTA Lite that will go live on the Android Play Store on November 6. Using the app, the bulb can be paired using Bluetooth 4.0 technology.

The IOTA Lite can be plugged into an existing fixture too.


IOTA Lite has some additional features too, including, weather alert,  call/SMS alert, music sync and preset modes. Under present modes, one can use it as mood lighting and can choose from different modes such as reading, relaxation, party, etc.

Users can also control the brightness of the Lite using the app. There is also a scheduling feature for turning on and off the bulb. At once time, up to 7 bulbs can be connected directly to a single smartphone. Cube26 claims it to be an energy efficient bulb with a life span of 15000 hours.

IOTA Lite isn't the only smart bulb available in the market today.

Recently, Philips has announced the launch of Philips Hue, a mood based lighting solution but the starter kit including three LED bulbs and a Hue Bridge was priced at Rs 16,995. The IOTA Lite, on the other hand, will be available at an introductory price of Rs 1,499 till Diwali, exclusively on Flipkart.
