LG Electronics has launched its 5-inch
Optimus Vu smartphone in India, priced at Rs 34,500.
With a rare 4:3 aspect ratio and a powerful 1.5 Ghz Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core processor, the phone hopes to cashing in on the growing craze for the phablet - a screen size between the
conventional smartphone and popular tablets.
The phone was announced at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, and LG has since come out with an upgraded version of the phone called Optimus Vu 2.
LG claims the unique form factor of the phone is ideal for viewing and editing content.
The Optimus Vu comes with a Rubberdium stylus which feels natural on the full touch screen IPS panel. Despite the large screen size, the
phone weighs just 169 grams.
LG packed some interesting features like the Notebook and QuickMemo applications that make full use of the touch functionality as well as the Polaris Office app for business users.
The Optimus Vu will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich along with the Optimus 3.0 UI. The rear camera is 8 megapixels while the front one is 1.3 MP and allows Full HD video recording. The device has a 32GB internal memory.
