Google-owned Motorola Mobility has unveiled its latest smartphone, the Moto X, which is 'always listening' and can be 'custom-designed' with a choice of colours and materials.
The device, which functions much
like the Google Glass, listens for instructions when the user says 'OK Google now...' and prompts the touchless control system to function.
In its latest attempt to break the smartphone market dominance currently held by Apple and Samsung, Motorola's Moto X will go on sale in the US at the end of August or the beginning of September for a suggested retail price of $199.99 to customers who sign a two-year contract at five of the biggest US mobile network operators.
The company is taking a different approach than its competitors to offer something which customers actually need. The Moto X allows customers to personalize with a choice of colours and materials including unusual phone materials such as wood.
Motorola Vice-president for product management, Rick Osterloh, says: "Consumers have shown that they are interested in putting their personal stamp on a phone, seen in the popularity of phone cases featuring various colors and sparkly surfaces."
The Moto X's key features of camera and touch-free user interface are same like the range of Droid series launched recently.
