The OnePlus 12 has leaked online. While leaks suggest a potential launch of the OnePlus 12 later this year, the initial release may be limited to China, with an Indian launch slated for early next year. So, there is still a lot of time for the company to announce its next flagship phone, but the leaks have already painted a good picture of what to expect from the upcoming 5G OnePlus phone. Meanwhile, OnePlus is also said to be planning to launch its first OnePlus Open foldable phone in the coming weeks or months, although pricing details for both devices remain undisclosed. The OnePlus 11 5G, for reference, starts at a price of Rs 56,999 in India. Let's take a closer look at the specifications that the OnePlus 12 could have.
The upcoming OnePlus 12 flagship smartphone is set to continue the brand's tradition of incorporating Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon processors. Specifically, it is expected to house Qualcomm's next-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, a move that aligns with OnePlus's commitment to cutting-edge hardware. RAM capacity may receive a significant boost, potentially reaching 24GB. This would be a notable increase compared to the 16GB offered in the top variant of the OnePlus 11. Additionally, OnePlus is reportedly planning to increase internal storage to 1TB, accommodating the growing need for space in today's smartphone landscape.
While OnePlus might retain the old 6.70-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with variable refresh rate technology, there are hints of minor design changes. Renders by SmartPrix with OnLeaks suggest the possibility of a curved display with rounded edges, which could lend the OnePlus 12 a unique aesthetic departure from its recent predecessors. The OnePlus 12 is also rumored to feature a bigger 5,400mAh battery under the hood, coupled with fast 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. To expedite charging, OnePlus might employ dual batteries, each with a 2,700mAh capacity. The company will likely bundle a charger in the box along with the phone, considering it hasn't yet removed it from any of its offerings. This also gives it an edge over the competition because several big tech companies have stopped offering one.
There is also anticipation of an upgrade in the OnePlus 12's camera hardware. The rear camera module could consist of a 50-megapixel wide-angle primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 64-megapixel camera equipped with a periscope lens. The primary camera may feature a new Sony IMX9xx sensor, while the periscope lens could offer 3x optical zoom. OnePlus is expected to continue its collaboration with Hasselblad for camera tuning. The phone is likely to retain a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
