Xiaomi is preparing to launch a number of new devices in the coming weeks, both in India and in its domestic market. One of them is tipped to be its next tablet Mi Pad 5. The electronics maker is yet to officially announced the new tab and reports of its successor have already surfaced. According to Weibo user and Xiaomi tipster 'Digital Chat Station', the company has already started working on its next-generation tablet.

The Mi Pad 6, which it is likely to be called, is expected to focus on camera performance. It is an interesting decision as most tablets continue to focus on displays and performance. Camera has always been seen as a luxury on tablets. There are hardly any tabs that come with a dual rear camera setup.

Yes, some manufacturers have worked and improved the front cameras because of the dependency on video calling features but, the upgrades haven't been extraordinary. It will be also be interesting to see if Xiaomi eventually brings a tablet to India or not. Currently, it doesn't have any plans. It believes that the demand for tablets have increased because of the pandemic situation but, will again settle down as things start to open up.

Meanwhile, the Mi Pad 5 is expected to be announced officially soon. A model of this tablet had recently surfaced online with model number M2105K81C and support for 5G connectivity. The tablet has a 4,260mAh dual-cell battery, which is equivalent to 8,720mAh. There are leaks suggesting that the tablet can come with an OLED display and there will be another variant with an LED panel.

Mi Pad 5 is likely to feature a Full HD+ screen resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and supports a 120Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The standard variant is tipped to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC which also supports 5G connectivity.

Xiaomi is expected to launch the Pro variant of this tab with Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset along with support for 5G connectivity. It is said to be powered by a 4,260mAh dual-cell battery, which makes it an 8,720mAh battery effectively. Both the variants should have side-mounted fingerprint scanners and are expected to run MIUI based on Android 11.
