
At the #BudgetRoundTable2024 conference, Business Today TV Managing Editor Siddharth Zarabi spoke exclusively with Ajay Seth, Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs, about the Union Budget’s emphasis on employment and skilling. The budget outlines a ₹2 lakh crore investment in job creation, which includes providing internships for one crore youth at 500 leading companies over the next five years. Interns will benefit from a ₹5,000 monthly stipend and a one-time ₹6,000 assistance, while companies will finance training and 10% of internship costs through their CSR funds. Ajay Seth explained that this initiative is designed to offer valuable exposure to successful business environments, boost aspiration levels, and foster ambition among interns. He also discussed ongoing schemes related to skilling and loans underlining the aim to enhance skill levels and career opportunities for young people.
