Former FM P Chidambaram Says Tax Breaks Benefit Only A Fraction Of Population

Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has laid bare the The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly in Budget 2025. In a conversation at the Business Today TV at the India Today-Business Today Budget Round Table 2025, the veteran Congress leader said the tax cuts will only benefit 3.20 crore Indians out of a total population of 143 crore. He argued that the ₹1 lakh crore tax relief would not significantly boost domestic consumption or stimulate India's ₹324 lakh crore GDP.
