The hijab controversy has resurfaced — this time inside a CBSE-affiliated school in Kerala run by the Latin Catholic Church. A Muslim student alleged she was barred from entering campus wearing a hijab, sparking tension and forcing the school to declare a two-day closure citing staff stress and safety concerns. The student claimed she was stopped at the gate and asked to remove her hijab before being allowed to attend assembly. Kerala’s Education Minister V Sivankutty said schools should not police attire but reminded that students must follow uniform rules. Meanwhile, the BJP accused SDPI of politicizing the issue and allegedly threatening school staff.
