Union Minister Piyush Goyal on the outcomes of the WTO Ministerial Conference. He mentioned that reinstating the appellate body was considered important so that disputes could be elevated to the WTO for resolution. He expressed regret that without an appellate body, no dispute could be brought to its conclusion, leading to a perception that escalating concerns, which many countries may have regarding the practices of others, was not worthwhile. He further commented that progress was made on several contentious issues that had not been resolved over many years during discussions generally through MC13. He stated that full policy space for the benefit of India's farmers and fishermen continued to be retained, and in every respect, India's interests had been protected to the highest possible level.
