Incessant rains lashed Goa for the third consecutive day, inundating several low-lying areas in the coastal state. A driver attempted to cross a flooded road in North Goa, but the floodwaters swept away the vehicle. Fortunately, locals managed to save both the driver and his co-passenger from the car. However, the heavy rainfall led to a tragic incident on Sunday, with three people losing their lives in a wall collapse in North Goa. In response to the severe weather conditions, Goa has declared a holiday for all schools up to the 12th standard. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that pre-primary and higher secondary schools would remain closed on July 8th due to the heavy rain. The international airport has also been flooded, adding to the chaos in this popular tourist destination. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert, forecasting moderate to heavy showers accompanied by strong surface winds. The Goa government has reported that approximately 80 tourists are currently stranded in the coastal city. The ongoing deluge poses significant challenges, highlighting the urgent need for effective disaster management and relief efforts.
