India is all set to get a third launch pad at the Satish Dhavan Space Centre at Sriharikota. The new facility will enable India to plan bigger and more ambitious space launches in the coming years. The union cabinet today approved the proposal with a ₹3,985-cr outlay. The First & the Second Launch Pads provide launch support for PSLV, SSLV, GSLV & LVM3 vehicles. The new facility will enable Next Generation Launch Vehicles (NGLV) and will help in making the Bharatiya Antariksh Station and the Indian Crewed Lunar Landing a reality in the next 15 years. The new launch pad will also help the budding Indian space sector start-up ecosystem move towards its full potential.
