“Attacks On Saudi Territory Unacceptable”: India Flags Red Sea Escalation, Houthi Issue With Riyadh

India has raised concerns over the escalating situation in the Red Sea region, with MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal saying the issue of the Houthis was discussed during External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit. Jaiswal said India has condemned attacks on Saudi Arabia, including those targeting civilian infrastructure and economic assets. He said such attacks undermine regional stability and threaten freedom of navigation through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. India has called the attacks unacceptable and expressed hope for an early restoration of peace and stability. Jaiswal also noted that India continues receiving energy supplies from the region.
